RSS feeds enable users to subscribe to content notifications by topic or by
author. Users can subscribe to different RSS feeds such as "robots," then
whenever Make has an article that mentions robots, the user is immediately
notified. If the reader is also a subscriber, he/she can link directly to
the Make article using Texterity's digital edition platform. Texterity's
browser-only digital edition technology places a cookie on the subscriber's
computer the first time the subscriber accesses the digital edition . The cookie remembers
the subscriber's information and allows immediate access to the article
without screen names or downloads -- making targeted information
immediately available to the RSS subscriber.
Make's RSS feeds are available to everyone. Readers who do not subscribe to
Make magazine can still subscribe to the RSS feed and be notified that an
article of interest is now available. The reader may then choose to
purchase a newsstand copy.
"Our new RSS feed is an exciting way to provide our readers with immediate,
targeted access to information," stated Phillip Torrone, senior editor of
Make. "This technology enables us to ensure our enthusiastic readers never
miss the content in which they are most interested. When combined with digital editions , we deliver immediate
notification via RSS, then immediate access to the magazine article via the
Texterity digital edition."
"We are thrilled to partner with Make on this exciting application," stated
Martin Hensel, president of Texterity. "Make is an innovative publisher and
we are excited by the opportunity to demonstrate our RSS integration
capabilities with this publication."
