NewsGator Expands Into Asia by Partnering With GMO Group on Hosted RSS Aggregation Solution for the Enterprise

NewsGator is working closely with GMO Internet Group to build a customized, hosted version of the NewsGator Enterprise Server that meets the unique needs of Japanese companies, including a database of Japanese-specific RSS feeds. The service will also include NewsGator's recently introduced mobile capabilities, allowing employees to access the RSS aggregator while traveling and working remotely. The combined NewsGator/GMO service is expected to be available to customers in the third quarter of 2006 and will be the first localized, enterprise RSS solution to reach Japan.

NewsGator Enterprise Server is a business solution that allows timely and relevant RSS feeds to be delivered directly to employees via Microsoft OutlookŪ, Web browsers and mobile devices in a synchronized manner. Internal content (such as reports, executive communications and product information) and external content (such as competitive intelligence, customer data and industry developments) are aggregated in easy-to-use folders. Default subscriptions can be set up for employees, who can also choose to add other additional relevant feeds. Senior executives, marketing and communications professionals and knowledge workers can all save time and work smarter by harnessing the power of RSS.

"Asia is clearly a burgeoning Internet market and Japan has quickly embraced blogging and RSS technology, so it was natural for us to extend our leadership position in North America to that segment," said Sandy Hamilton, executive vice president of NewsGator Technologies. "By partnering with another market leader in GMO Internet Group, we expect to quickly penetrate the Japanese business community, allowing companies to take advantage of a localized RSS platform that improves information dissemination and consumption."

"NewsGator is the clear leader in RSS aggregation and we wanted to take advantage of their technology and market expertise to deliver a solution that meets the unique needs of Japanese corporations," said Masatoshi Kumagai, CEO of GMO Internet Group, a subsidiary of multi-billion dollar GMO Group. "Although in its infancy, RSS in the enterprise is quickly gaining traction in North America because of its ability to help companies better control and take advantage of Internet-based information and content. We're already seeing great anticipation from our customer base for this solution and look forward to unveiling it in this market."
