LOS ANGELES -- City National Bank, California's Premier Private and Business Bank(R), announced today that it is offering
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and podcast feeds to clients and others who visit its Website at www.cnb.com.
RSS allows users to subscribe to content from any Website that offers an RSS feed. Using a news reader or "aggregator," subscribers can view the content on their desktops and have it updated automatically each time the feed is revised. Podcasting enables subscribers to automatically receive audio files over the Internet and listen to those files on their computers or to load them onto portable devices, such as MP3 players.
Initially, all company-issued news releases, as well as daily foreign exchange commentary and weekly "Market Perspectives" from City National's Chief Investment Officer Richard A. Weiss, will be available in RSS. "Market Perspectives," which highlights economic trends and market activity each week, also will be made available as an audio file that can be played directly from the Website or regularly downloaded with a free podcast subscription.
"As a private and business bank, we strive to deliver value-added content that will help our clients build their businesses and grow their personal wealth," said Mark H. Middlebrook, City National's senior vice president and manager of eCommerce. "With this new technology, we're able to make it even easier for them to access this important information and keep up-to-date on what's happening with the bank, the economy and the markets."
City National is making its expert content available through RSS feeds and podcasts to provide yet another option for clients who value the information, but have little time to browse the Web or sift through online content. Moreover, those who prefer to get their information "on the go" can download and listen to "Market Perspectives" and other content on their MP3 players.
City National is one of the first financial institutions in the nation to utilize RSS feeds and podcasts as alternative solutions for clients. The bank plans to expand its offerings with additional content -- including economic forecasts, executive speeches and other timely information -- in the coming months.
